The new NYC Aquarium engages the community with exterior views of the actual exhibits in the form of a glowing blue box. The interior is very adaptable, with see through, interactive, overhead, glass floor and tube configurations of the exhibition spaces. Operable fins can open and close to protect the aquariums from unwanted heat gain or loss. The educational focus of the aquarium is aquaponics. Engaging the community again with classes on the building and maintaining of home aquaponics gardens. A restaurant that grows all of its own food on site further shows off the possibilities of Aquaponics.
